Vani, a Journalism graduate from the prestigious LSR college in Delhi, switched careers in her late twenties and moved to E-commerce consulting. Her media background was handy when it came to creating online content for her clients. D'chica was born 8 months after Vani became a mom to little Devyani and realized she could use her consultancy experience to create a brand for children and fill the gap for quality Made In India products that would appeal to the sensibility of the modern Indian mom. Since, its launch in 2014 as a partnership firm (with her sister-in-law Richa) and re-launch in 2019 to D'chica Fashion Private Limited, Vani's second baby has grown at a phenomenal pace in the online world. Today the company has three brands, D'chica, a girl's footwear & Essential Fashion brand, D'chica Bro a boys footwear & Essential Fashion brand & D'chica Paws, the soon-to-be-launched pet brand. What makes DFL stand out as an enterprise is that it is focused on creating a unique and well-thought-out bouquet of brands & categories that resonate with its #madewithlove theme & complement and synergize strategically. The idea is to create a formidable business model developed to grow and thrive in the dynamic E-com world. The company’s current categories under the D'chica & D'chica Bro Kids umbrella include-- fast fashion & repeat buy, party footwear, comfort home footwear, essential/fashion 2-ply designer masks, premium innerwear including a fresh take on beginner bras for tween and teens. D'chica Paws, the pet brand bouquet covers, pet fashion, essentials & healthy treats. With her ability to adapt fast to changing market situations and out-of-the-box, nonconformist thinking, Vani hopes to create a completely unique business born in the E-com world and brought up to not only take on its unique challenges but use them to thrive and grow. Richa Kapila #Madewithlove is the byword Richa lives by. D’chica is a baby made with her love, hard work, and sweat. All of 30, Richa started her entrepreneurial journey when most of her peers were settling into their first jobs. A graduate of Pearl Academy, Richa has always had a keen eye for design and the desire to create something different. She started D’chica as a partnership firm with her sister-in-law Vani in 2014, they re-launched the business as D’chica Fashion Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd., in 2019 with two kids fashion brands under its umbrella, D’chica, and D’chica Bro. She is currently hard at work developing products and preparing for the launch of DFL’s new pets brand D’chica Paws. DFL owes a huge part of its success to the fresh, out-of-the-box designs created by Richa. She researches elements her little customers would love in a piece and then adds her own ‘grown-up’ twist to make each product stand out. Her design sensibility, however, is focused not just on aesthetics, but on the idea of creating products people will love for the ones they love the most. Her keen attention to detail ensures that every product that comes out of DFL caters to the smallest comfort of its customers. Richa follows a practice of spending time with moms and children to understand their needs, takes detailed feedback on every aspect of the product, be it the breadth of the strap in the beginner bras or the softness of the cushion in kids footwear, she observes, improvises and tries to perfect every product launched by D’chica. Following the same principles for the pets brand, Richa not only observe her dog baby and muse Cookie carefully to understand the comfort level of the product. But also spends hours with dog & cat moms, understanding their unique needs in terms of pet fashion products, essential accessories, and healthy treats for their precious darlings. With her focused and clear approach to design and product development, Richa hopes to create a completely unique business that thrives not just on profit but on the immense love & trust of its little customers and their moms.
