There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure. All my life I never hesitated to tinker in different fields to feel that spark, out of them all make-up artistry spoke to me the most. Alongside my graduation I sold a few of my paintings and was known for my skills in painting. From hosting summer camps and teaching kids how to paint their imaginations to now living my dream of working with colors and people I’ve come a long way. After my graduation I was more than thrilled to give this industry all my time and dedication and become a successful makeup artist. I was certified and then hired by Lakme as a chief makeup trainer for 2 years and taught 50+ students.
Managing clients and students required a lot of dedication and patience. The joy of teaching beginners, working for the brides on their happiest day and being a part of their journey was Unmatched. After a year of freelancing, working with artists around the city, my work was featured in You&l magazine. The zeal and enthusiasm to do more and build something on my own pushed me to quit Lakme and start BILS. Under the guidance of my Mother who was a successful entrepreneur herself a very unique set up was built in 2020, an academy, Bridal studio and an international retail studio all under one roof to cater to the needs of makeup enthusiast. Soon the pandemic took a toll on us, our family was infected during the second wave and we lost the gem of our house, our loving mother. She was the driving force behind BILS and my support system. When we lost her, it felt like we were stripped off the light and it was very difficult to find the balance in life.
2022 BILS as a brand bounced back bigger and stronger. Being a Professional MUA comes with a great responsibility be it a 4:00 am wake-up call or a late-night bridal booking-its all about balance focus and dedication.
BILS has collaborated with various clients from the film and fashion industry. The opportunity to work with sir Naga Chaitanya and closely observing his work ethic is an experience I’ll always cherish. BILS did a Fashion Project for a Mumbai-based director in 2020, in Ladakh above 16000ft above, I wouldn't have made it till here without the love, prayers & support from you all. There are many ways to find success as an entrepreneur, but no matter what path you take, it's vital to always keep learning. To stay relevant, hungry and motivated, it's important to make a lifelong commitment to educating yourself. I'm currently pursuing fashion from London school of trends to keep up with this fast paced industry.
From one brush stroke to another I’ve realized that the key to Excel in any industry is to invest your time and effort in networking and getting to know people. Success in dealing with people depends on a sympathetic grasp of the other person’s viewpoint. My only advice to the make-up artists entering this industry is to have fun in what they’re doing and never be afraid to try something new.
