Saffin Mathew is the Programs Director at the 1 Million for 1 Billion Foundation (1M1B), a non-profit organization with special consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications.
He is an advocate of Youth for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and champions for AI Youth Skills and Climate Action.
As the Programs Director at 1M1B, Saffin oversees the conceptualization and management of the programs bringing youth together to achieve the SDGs using new-age tools and technologies. He works closely with global leaders and organizations to mobilize and engage youth for global impact. His passion to propel youth from intent to action has resulted in coaching and mentoring over 15,000 students as part of the 1M1B programs with the help of his team.
Saffin has pioneered the AI Youth Skills program for 1M1B which aims to accelerate the UN SDGs by activating youth to create AI-powered solutions. The AI for Good curriculum developed by him introduces high school students to the world of AI and excites them to use AI to build projects creating real impact in their communities. He had the opportunity to present this work at the Activate Impact Summit at the UN, New York in December 2019.
Currently, he is on a mission to activate 100,000 climate action champions across schools in India to address the climate crisis our world is facing through the 1M1B Climate Action Clubs.
Saffin is also associated with the global TED community since 2012 and is the curator of TEDx Lavelle Road, one of the top TEDx events in India. He believes in the power of storytelling to evoke empathy, drive advocacy and achieve positive change.
