Nikunj Goenka, Assistant Marketing Manager at KARL STORZ Endoscopy India Pvt. Ltd. provides core marketing support to the Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) portfolio in India and the sub-continent. Since the early days of his schooling, he thought, “as a part of my service to my nation, I want to be the one who can help bring best-in-quality, innovation-driven, and science-backed healthcare solutions to the people of India. Coming from a Marwari family brings a ton of expectations. Talking about his early years, he was born in Kolkata but did his schooling from Mau Nath Bhanjan, a small town of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Despite many challenges, he was always determined and focused on his journey and the biggest credit goes to his parents and school teachers. While pursuing his graduation in Computer Sciences, he did his groundwork for the next steps. He attained world-class education from a reputed B-school following which he honed his skills and gained experience across different industries. Versatile inexperience, he successfully rowed his boat and picked the healthcare sector as his destination. He explains innovations in science and healthcare are time-consuming, evidence-backed, and ultimately serve as a “world-transforming” solution for many. He strategically entered the healthcare sector and picked the right choices. He has now spent six-plus years in the healthcare industry at a national level by joining hands with the front runners of the industry. Talking about his professional journey, Nikunj got his first break at Tata Consulting Services following which he entered the healthcare industry. He explored, improvised, and developed novel marketing strategies, starting with the Diabetessegment and he was an integral part of the core team that launched the country’s first once-weekly diabetes management solution that emerged as the “life-changing” solution for many T2DM patients, their families, near and dear ones. Indomitable and highly strategic in his vision and approach, he successfully led different marketing campaigns and played a cardinal role in key product launches. Having served in the healthcare industry, he witnessed India’s unmet needs in the Hemophilia community. During his service at Shire (now Takeda), he helped create awareness about the promising upcoming treatment options in Hemophilia. His in-depth knowledge about the industry coupled with strategic execution led to the successful launch of India’s first Recombinant Factor IX molecule for the Indian Hemophilia B community. He played a key role in scaling up personalized prophylaxis treatment for Hemophilia A patients. Echoing his childhood dream, this opportunity gave him a chance to serve his nation – the launch of the treatment helped to elevate the nation’s standards and considerably reduced the gap with respect to the globally approved standards. Alongside, he also innovated and devised the dosage calculator for surgeons and patients for effective disease management. With several feathers to his cap during his professional journey of 11 years, he has been felicitated with several awards for his successful contribution towards different business models. Most recently, in 2018, he was awarded the Best Marketer of the year. With all his reverence and gratitude towards all his employers, he believes getting the right opportunity, building a great team and a well-defined approach are some of the key factors that help to nurture leadership skills. Together these skillsets stood strong for him while today he manages the biggest portfolio for one of the leading endoscopy companies – KARL STORZ. Nikunj has showcased his leadership skills and his willingness to take more on several occasions during his professional ride. His outstanding capabilities to lead teams and projects with complete ownership were reflected while the world was battling the pandemic. During the COVID19 pandemic, Nikunj was chosen to map and bring in the digital revolution during this tough time that helped his team to connect with their customer base and resorted to their needs. Modest, insightful, and progressive- as best to describe him- are some of the key traits that make Nikunj a great individual at a personal level as well. He is spiritually strong and holds a strong belief in the concept of Karma and doings. Outside of work, Nikunj loves to cook and try his hands on different veg cuisines. Ever since a child, he enjoyed art. Creative and artistic in nature, he spends his free time sketching. A father to a year-old daughter, Nikunj promises his weekends to his family.
