Ms. Leena Hemant Desai is Managing Associate & Team Lead-Trademark at Royzz & Co., Mumbai. Her practice focuses on complex trademark and copyright matters, corporate transactions and litigation. Leena is a Law Graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Leena also has a PG Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights from the Government Law College & Mumbai University and Diploma in International Intellectual Property Rights from the Arizona Summit Law School.

                                   

Leena has 10 years of experience in handling contentious and non-contentious matters. Prior to joining Royzz & Co, Leena was associated with WNS Global Services and Kochhar & Co.

Leena manages a wide range of Indian and International Trademark and copyright portfolios and she has extensive experience in the prosecution of Indian and foreign trade marks, clearance searches, multi-jurisdictional recordal projects, transactional matters and contentious actions. Leena is regularly appears before the Trade Marks Offices in India and is highly experienced in drafting various IP agreements and infringement suits.

Leena’s practice incorporates clients from a broad range of industries including consumer electronics, technology, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, aquaculture, fashion, FMCG, to name a few.

 

Leena is known for her extensive experience in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious IP matters. She regularly advises clients on matters including IP portfolio management, trademark availability search and clearance opinions, registration, enforcement, domain name dispute matters, drafting and negotiating agreements related to intellectual property rights, drafting of cease & desist notices, infringement suits and briefing counsels on various IP infringement suits and commercial arbitration matters.

In addition, Leena also has experience in counselling and assisting clients on general corporate law matters, employment matters, commercial contracts, real estate agreements, and compliances under local laws and RBI.

• Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) v. FabIndia (INR 525 crores suit for damages).
• Running Shaadi.com copyright infringement suit filed in the Bombay High Court. The Courtdirected the film makers to change the title of the film ‘Running Shaadi’.
• Successfully obtained an order from the Delhi High Court in the suit for plagiarism filed by Jaipurbased author Manisha Kulshreshtha against National award-winning director Ravi Jadhav's Marathi movie 'Nude: Chitra'.

• B.COM LL.B and PG Diploma in IPR and Diploma in Cyber Laws. She was admitted to the Bar in2012 and is a member of Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa.
