A practising HPB & Liver transplant Surgeon in Bangalore, I have pursued my M.B.B.S from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, and Masters in Surgery from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore. Following which I completed my Post Doctoral Clinical Fellowship in HPB Surgery and Liver Transplant from H.C.G Oncology hospitals, Bangalore. I have additional training and fellowships in Robotic Surgery, Laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery as well from AIIMS, New Delhi, D.Y Patil Medical College, Mumbai and CEMAST, Mumbai. I have always been very keen in developing innovative solutions to the academic hurdles faced by medical and other health students, the beginning of which occurred as an academy for medical students to improve and hone their approach towards practical and applied medical practice. This gave birth to the very valued and unique Docfort Meducation in 2017 and performing well so far, the academy boasts three new courses in the medical domain including a Fellowship in Medico-social Journalism (F.M.S.J), Clinical Research Enhanced Supplemental Training (CREST) and a Fellowship in Ambulatory Medicine (F.D.C.P). In addition to this, Docfort has successfully certified over 3000 students in various workshops involving hands on training programs, research modules, screening camps, discussion forums and paper presentations. Originally from a very modest economical background, it was extremely difficult for me to begin this venture, given its technical and allied needs. But with the help of a persistent vision, a strong family support and an amazing peer circle, I have successfully been able to carry on with the desired operations and more in the last 4 years. I believe in hyper-personalising academics for interested medics, thereby enabling them to bring out the best of academic acumen. Our ‘Mentorship and guidance council’ is one of the best that any medic can ask for, with internationally accredited faculty on board, trying to bring about a revolutionary change in the way we pursue health education. It is a long process, but the investment of our efforts and time is worth it all. Creating a sound and safe healthcare domain for the general population is the mission we are looking at, as we intend to train even the ward workers and group D workers towards formal education so as to reduce the risk of preventable complications in health care. I believe that this is just the beginning. God willing, we are hoping to be the game changers in the field of medical and health education. We believe in our methods, and with the right support, we will definitely bridge the academic gap faced by candidates en route to becoming practically sound professionals. By ‘Education in Healthcare’, we mean all its verticals, including allopathic, AYUSH and dental doctors, vocational training, nursing, physiotherapy and paramedical training. Everyone has a share of their academic training at Docfort. My vision with Docfort is to enable healthcare professionals in our country with the strongest skill set in terms of health systems operations and management. About a third of all complications can be prevented by the right exposure and training our personnel before or during their service. And this includes personnel from all tiers, from Doctors to nurses to marginalised help. The idea is not just to upload videos on a website or an app and allow students to access it for a certain amount of money. Our key principle is to facilitate students and professionals at Docfort as a ‘One stop shop’ for all academic challenges and to create a system of applied and competence based education system. From enrolling into essential certificate courses (CoRE Programs)to availing really helpful revision modules (DRAMA)for the last minute exam preparation, from live video demonstration to Career acceleration programs (CAP), Docfort has been designed in the most simplistic method that an average student can avail to improve instantly academically. Unfortunately, we live in an era where health education is driven by higher motives of the people responsible for it. Bridging this gap becomes easier if our students identify their pain points and help us help them. I have consistently been working on this idea since 2012 and was able to start operating in the middle of 2017. Now we have entered a phase of aggressive expansion which led to our strategic move to expand globally and convert our contact academy to an online / blended training institute. Although we are extremely advocative of higher education in each of its domains, we firmly believe that the process of obtaining a masters degree in any of healthcare verticals should be a little more scientific and a lot less like the existing system. In addition to the existing programs, we also intend to soon start off short term training programs for International Medical Graduates and competitive exams as well, for Medical, Dental and Nursing courses like MRCP, USMLE, PLAB, NEET-PG, Interview format training, SOP writing, Communication methods, Attitude training for health professionals and much more. And this, I believe is just a small part of the ecosystem we are trying to create with Docfort. Health academics is the first of many functional verticals of Docfort, others being in the fields of Retail pharmacies, Institutional management corporation, Day care centres and Medical-Dental Tourism.
